Inspired by one of my favs, Brown Sugar, I figured it was time I share when I fell in love with Travel. And to my other inspiration.... till we meet again.
For many, travel is that first trip you take away from everything normal or the first place you go with your passport. It's the first trip that gets you addicted. And like any other traveler, through social media and stories, we get to see you grow and explore.
And just when you think you know everything there is to know about travel it finds a way to surprise you and remind you why you fell in love in the first place. You see, the day I fell in love with Travel was a day from hell. I was stranded in Amsterdam and quite frankly over the trip. I didn't plan to stay an additional day but had no choice, so we made the best of it.
That moment on the bridge as I felt the wind sharply blow and touch my cheek, I connected with Travel. Travel saw me, and it felt as if I loved Travel before I took my trip. Though Travel and I met for the first time, it felt like we've known each other forever. That night in Amsterdam I felt whole. Travel opened a side of me that I'd never thought I'd see and I thank Travel for that.
The thing is this same story has started several times throughout my adventures, but have yet to make a connection as I did this time. This was destined. And because of that, I can't seem to let go of last night of my trip to Amsterdam. For someone else it would've been a distant memory... just another trip. But for me, it's soo much more that I can't shake it or find the words to fill in the blanks that were left after that moment. The connection I have with Travel to the real world is a hard thing to imagine. Travel was this personal, regional thing that belonged to just me for that one night. It's like someone trying to compare the joys of domestic travel with international travel. You can't. It's like the difference between saying you love somebody and being in love with them. Two completely different feelings.
I've envisioned this moment before that it seemed surreal when it happened. Who would've thought that vision I had of Travel would come to fruition right in front of my eyes as if it was heaven sent. I cherish that moment and find myself looking for that moment in my trips hoping that one day I will find a place that makes me want to stay. Until then my love for Travel will never rest, and Travel will always have a piece of my heart.
Dear travel... You're the perfect adventure from my top 10 list.
Travel is Life, XOXO
